The Billawar Association, Mumbai
Shri Jaya C. Suvarna is a simple and down to earth person with a broad vision. He has effectively acted on his vision for the Billawar Association, thereby successfully steering the Association into an enabling social platform for the Billawa community. The socio-cultural and educational activities conducted by the Association reflect his untiring passion to unite and uplift the underprivileged section of the society.
A logical thinker with a heart - his clear-headed vision and laserbeam like focussed approach towards the Association’s goals, make him an effective Planner, Organiser & an excellent Executor. He has been able to conjure up road maps for the Association – the goal posts of which fall beyond the mental horizons of normal mortals. He is a “WILL DO” person who believes that if a person involves himself wholeheartedly in a worthy cause & is committed to the cause, nothing can stop the person from achieving the goals. He firmly believes that key to degree of one’s success is directly related to the unwavering Commitment & enthusiastic Involvement towards one’s goals. It is this resolute belief coupled with blessings of Brahmashree Narayana Guru that has taken him to great heights – both professionally & Socially. Professionally, he is a successful businessman and socially he is a pillar of strength for the Billawa community.
He is currently also the
- Chairman of The Bharat Co-operative Bank (Mumbai) Ltd
- Founder President of “Rashtriya Billawara Maha Mandala”- a national confederation of over 180 billawa organisations in India
- President of “Mulki Rukka Rama Salian Education Trust”, Mulky
- Administrator of ‘‘shree Narayana Guru English High School’’, Mulky

Shri. Jaya C Suvarna has always had a broad canvass – a canvass not limited only to his immediate & extended family members, but a canvass that encompasses the entire Billawa community. His appetite for risk had always been greater. Where most people see risks, he sees the other side of the coin - an “opportunity” to serve the billawa community & the society in general.
One of the many qualities of Shri. Jaya C Suvarna, is his ability to take along & get along with people of diverse backgrounds - an innate ability to synergise diverse energies to the cohesive objectives of the Association. His natural leadership ability to build up working teams of people tuned to a common cause has seen the Billawar Association grow in leaps and bounds. As on penning this note, the Association has a strong grassroots network of 17 local offices & 7 Co-ordinations committees in Maharashtra & Karnataka and it is growing bigger & stronger. All work in the Billawar Association is honorary & it is indeed wonderful to see the selfless organising capability of the members, driven strongly by the enthusiasm & devotion to serve the Community.
Shri. Jaya C Suvarna and the Billawar Association are inseparable. It is difficult to think of one without the other. Shri. J C Suvarna is blissfully wedded to the Billawar Association. The love showered by the members sees him continue in the prestigious position of the President since the last 16 years.
He has continued the good work done by the founding fathers of the Association & his predecessors. It is largely due to his dynamic leadership & untiring efforts that the Billawar Association has grown tremendously in the past decade or so & has in turn, spawned more organisations, in the service of humankind. Today, The Billawar Association, Mumbai is a well-known, apolitical and dominant community Association in Mumbai, commanding an impressive membership.
The strikingly beautiful 7 storeyed “BILLAWA BHAWAN” stands majestically tall in the Mumbai Skyline – is one of the dream projects of Shri. J C Suvarna. Such is the distinct architecture of the building that the Billawa Bhawan needs no address. Its evident, its there to see – the beauty & elegance of Billawa Bhawan makes it an address around which other addresses are made. This year [2007], the association completed 75 years of yeoman services to the Billawa community. Lets watch our steps, to see the upcoming milestones in the President VISION for The Billawar Association Mumbai.
